How does it work?
Each time an Xbox 360 console boots the Ring of Light or ROL on the RF Module will light up and this causes the voltage readings at either anodes or cathodes of the LEDs to change. Boot time is measured by taking the time between start of the console and when there is a change of voltage at one of the ROL’s LEDs.
What do you need?
- Windows PC with at least one USB port. It is not limited to Windows but this guide is intended for people with Windows PC.
- Arduino Platform:
- Hardware: either Uno or MEGA 2560 board. I am also writing Xbox post out analyzer for Arduino that will only work with MEGA board. So, if you are also interested in that get the MEGA board. Don’t buy Arduino branded boards because they are expensive, buy from other manufacturers like SainSmart. The SainSmart MEGA board I bought cost only 17€.
- Software: get the latest Arduino IDE. The driver for the board is also provided by the installer.
- Printer USB cable for the board. You might get one when buying the board.
- Soldering tools (soldering iron, solder etc).
- Some wires.
- Pin connectors to connect the wires to the board.
- PuTTY.
And of course, the sketch file for RGH BootArd
