Come installare un HDD superiore a 500GB

I think one of our dev team may have figured out how to successfully install a bigger HDD to an XBOX ONE. Tested with a 1TB so far and it seems to work well – although I haven't seen it myself yet. It's Thanksgiving night and i'm shit faced

This is not a 100% confirmation but it's looking good so far. Will post more info as I get it.

Great for the scene to have the very first XBONE "hack" though

Xbox One HDD Tools

What this does

Given any HDD over 500GB in size, you can format it for use with you Microsoft Xbox One console

How



Instructions

All of this must be done as root! I HIGHLY suggest you do this on a livecd or usb booted system if you don't 'know linux' and would rather not wipe the wrong hard drive.

Connect your HDD and take note of what its called (ex: sda, sdb etc)
Run the script with the device name as the first parameter
It will bitch about missing partitions etc, but write a file with commands to create said missing partitions
Run the created script
Copy the correct files to the newly created partitions
Unmount the newly created partitions
Run the main script again
Putting it back together

When you put the new HDD in your console for the first time and boot up, the console will go the the green "Xbox One" screen, pause for a second or two, then shut down. Boot the console again. This time it should pause at the green screen for a while longer, then go to a black screen for even longer. It can take several minutes before anything happens after this, the xbox is automatically creating temporary files during this time. If you copied everything correctly, it WILL go to the dashboard eventually, just be patient!

perche' alcuni file sono raddoppiati? una volta system.xyd e' 761M e l'altra e' 850mb, sarebbe carino capire cosa sono quei file come funzionano ecc...
il tool praticamente non fa altro che prendere i file da un hd, creare la partizione giusta in qeullo nuovo e ricopiare il tutto... giusto?
ma la one funziona come la 360? la dashboard e' tutta nell'hd? oppure la parte centrale e' in nand come su 360?
la 360 ha la dashboard nella nand 16mb, poi c'e' tutto il resto che si appoggia su memunit (quello che sta nella cartella content praticamente, come gli avatar, i codec , il broswer ecc).


un'altra cosa.. e' sto file bash? mkxboxfs.sh

il buon swizzy sta cercando di creare un tool in c#.. non so a che punto è arrivato però perchè è da un pò che non lo sento in skype
Però non è "semplice", soprattuto nella gestione delle 5 partizioni in windows.
Questo script si basa sul programma linux parted per le partizioni e mkntfs per inizializzarle in ntfs (parlo comne la mia vecchia professoressa inizializzate il disco hahahahah)

Probabilmente si può portare in windows usando diskpart, ma non ne sono sicuro e soprattuto non ho mai provato quindi non vorrei dire cose inesatte.

ah forse ho capito, intendi dire che il supporto per la gestione dei dischi sata è integrato nativamente in tutti i linguaggi di programmazione?

In questo caso posso dirti che ti stai sbagliando e stai tralasciando un pò di "cose" a livello di sistema operativo e tutto quello che fa per "noi" sviluppatori mettendoci a disposizione tanti oggetti e tante belle funzioni già pronte per accedere "più in profondità" a dei meccanismi particolari (sto parlando di API e userl level e kernel levell)

Inoltre, lo script usa tools linux non fa quasi niente da zero.
Credo anche io si possa portare in diskpart ma bisogna conoscerne bene il funzionamento esoprattuto alcune cosette come questa:

That's what i found ages ago when i was looking for some code to translate bytes to kb, mb, gb.... (for HDD size) and it already had TB, PB and EB aswell... so... i left that in the code
